DIAGENESIS
BY IVAN MACERA
A set-up of dehydrating stones slowly immersed in water with a hydrophone. The dehydrated stones act like a sponge and absorb the water, creating unique hissing sounds. This sound anatomy triggered by the movement of water not just becomes the ‘voice’ of the stones, but was also a means of exploring the internal structure of the stone, thus decoding a memory older than humans.
