POSTGRADUATE CERTIFICATION IN SCIENCE AND PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
Science Gallery Bengaluru and University of Glasgow
Science Gallery Bengaluru and the University of Glasgow have collaborated to provide the Science Public Engagement PostGraduate (PG) Certification for every full-time experimentor. To forefront critical thinking, creative communication, and interdisciplinary practices, this PG Certification has been conceptualised and developed by three partners—the Medical, Veterinary & Life Sciences (MVLS) Graduate School UofG, the School of Education (SoE) UofG, and Science Gallery Bengaluru
Through a series of lectures, workshops, seminars and reflective exercises delivered over three core courses, students enrolled in this PG Certification will develop skills in science communication, museum education, and interdisciplinary public engagement. This course will be primarily delivered through online lectures and engagements, with writing assignments and verbal presentations being key assessments.
Why this PG Certification?
The University of Glasgow has a wide-ranging online repertoire of postgraduate courses. The courses have been designed to allow learners to study at their own pace and time, and learn from experienced practitioners. The aim is to maintain the calibre of instruction as on-campus programmes with the added flexibility of distance learning.
During the experimentor programme, which is based in Bengaluru, you will have the opportunity to be taught by distinguished faculty from UofG and SGB, while gaining on-ground experience in public engagement at SGB. While the experimentor programme offers training around the SGB exhibition-season theme, this PG Certification focuses on expanding your knowledge base and skill set through courses in museum education and science communication. It contextualises the importance of public engagement through interventions such as mediation. And the PG Certification enables experimentors to deepen their understanding of the larger ecosystem within which science engagement and non-formal education operate.
