Harmony in the Wildnerness: Stories of Planetary Stewardship


In this talk, K Ramnath Chandrasekhar shared his work and also stories from the wilderness to explore the concept of planetary stewardship and its connection to justice for all life on Earth. To underscore our interdependence with nature, he explored "stewardship for ourselves," which invites the audience to trace the connections of care—for ourselves and the environment. He also shared his insights on cognitive justice, and its importance in conversations around the environment. The lecture was a call to action, inspiring individuals to become stewards of the natural world, ensuring a thriving planet for all.

About the Educator

K Ramnath Chandrasekhar is a practitioner who conceptualises and implements education programmes on exploration, storytelling and civic engagement for the Asia-Pacific region and creates nature conservation stories from concept to completion through photography and filmmaking. He advocates for Planetary Stewardship through community building, experiential learning, and visual storytelling. He was shortlisted for the Rolex Young Laureates Programme, recognised by the Tamil Nadu State Government, and is a National Geographic Explorer. Ramnath is the Chief Operating Officer of YouCAN, a non-profit organisation that empowers individuals to become stewards of the Planet Earth. This is, to us, an act of justice for all life to thrive.
