About the Artist
Visual artist and art teacher Suresh Kumar moonlights as an ecological pioneer in his native village Volagerekallahalli near Sarjapur, in the outskirts of the city. He has launched a unique initiative, called ‘Sarjapur Curries’, to educate members of his village to grow seasonal and medicinal varieties of vegetables and greens. The focus is on growing things not consumed anymore, largely because they are not considered commercially viable.
