Programme Associate (Open Rank)
At the Science Gallery Bengaluru, Programme Associate is responsible for the development and execution of the exhibitions and public programmes of Science Gallery Bengaluru (SGB). The SGB programmes include exhibition-seasons based on a theme and accompanied by a series of public events, learning programmes and publications; pop-up exhibitions of shorter durations; and a host of other public engagement programmes ranging from Food and Film Festivals to workshops, masterclasses, and lab visits.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Planning
● Research, conceptualise, and execute all exhibition-season events—both onsite and offsite. We put together events every weekend.
● Design the annual structure and timelines of SGB public engagement programmes.
● Research and gather information about institutions and experts that can be potential programme partners.
● Liaise with external institutions and programmes that SGB participates in or partners with to build and maintain collaborations for the future.
● Conceptualise and design new public engagement formats for SGB events.
● Support the Development Manager in grant writing and fundraising for the programmes
● Lead the creation of publications and documentation related to the programmes like catalogues, reports, readers, and archives.
Programme Execution and Event Coordination
● Work with the operations team to create budgets and timelines for each programme and create an execution plan.
● Conduct end-to-end communication and coordination with event facilitators.
● Ensure timely updates of SGB's exhibition website and work with our Content Management System (CMS).
● Ensure smooth running of all programmes—from coordinating with the facilitator and making agreements to taking care of event set-up and logistics.
● Represent SGB and its programmes through internal and external communication channels, events, and forums.
● Provide inputs to the Communications and Design teams in creating the appropriate messaging and visual language for each programme.
● Support the Exhibitions team with the creation of exhibits by coordinating with relevant artists and researchers.
Impact Evaluation and Documentation
● Gather feedback and create reports for assessing the impact of SGB programmes and initiatives.
● Initiate research studies to understand the needs of the target audience to design future programmes.
● Create documentation and collate data and metrics for annual reviews, internal reports, and other reports whenever required.
Person Specifications
● Exceptional organisational skills—must be able to juggle multiple projects across themes and timelines.
● Proven interest/experience working in managing public engagement programmes with experience in on-ground event management.
● Well-developed academic and creative writing skills.
● Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
● Rigorous attention to detail.
● Ability to work creatively and speedily while maintaining quality in a fast-paced environment.
● Actively engaged in current science, technology and the arts/culture environments.
● Ability to read and write Kannada is desirable.
● A Bachelor's/Master's degree in any discipline is required. Formal qualifications are secondary to skills and experience.
