Job Summary

The Production Associate supports the production and delivery of exhibitions at Science Gallery Bengaluru (SGB). In its full capacity, SGB presents one themed exhibition-season annually, alongside pop-up shows and a range of public engagement programmes that require varying degrees of production support. Each season is accompanied by public events, learning programmes, and publications.

The Production Associate is expected to assist with scheduling, logistics, and vendor coordination while bringing strong technical capability to the role. They will work hands-on with AV systems (projectors, sound, sensors), interactive technologies (TouchDesigner, Processing, Python/p5.js), and exhibition graphics, ensuring smooth installation, troubleshooting, and operational support. The role requires collaboration with exhibition and graphic designers, sound and light designers, researchers, artists, and other internal teams to deliver high-quality, technology-led exhibitions and experiences for SGB’s core audience of 18–30-year-olds.

Key Responsibilities

● Lead the technical planning, setup, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of technology-driven exhibitions including AV systems (projectors, media players, speakers, mixers, sensors), creative coding environments (TouchDesigner / Python /Processing / p5.js), and interactive hardware

● Coordinate the design and production of exhibition graphics and print material in collaboration with the design team, with working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite /CorelDRAW

● Oversee end-to-end execution of in-house, partner-led, and travelling exhibitions — from artist shortlisting and development to contracts, production, installation, and deinstallation

● Manage logistics, shipping, technical documentation, risk, insurance, and sustainability plans for all exhibits

● Liaise with artists, vendors, technicians, and internal teams (design, programmes, finance, communications, development) to ensure smooth delivery of exhibitions and related events

● Supervise on-floor production teams (fabricators, technicians, electricians, carpenters) to ensure timely, high-quality build and execution

● Support fundraising, merchandising, and publicity by providing data, materials, and production support as required

● Maintain accurate financial records, oversee payments, and manage project budgets over the course of the exhibition cycle

Person Specifications

We are looking for a candidate who brings strong technical and digital fluency to complement our existing exhibition production skillset. The ideal person should have:

● Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and CorelDRAW for print and exhibition graphics

● Familiarity with audio software such as Reaper and an understanding of basic sound editing and signal flow

● Experience working with TouchDesigner and/or basic proficiency in Python / Processing / PJ5s (creative coding tools)

● Ability to troubleshoot and support AV setups, including projectors, media players, speakers, mixers, sensors, and related equipment

● Understanding of basic circuit and lighting design, with the ability to interface with vendors/technicians for more complex requirements

● Comfort working at the intersection of code, hardware and design for interactive and technology-led exhibits

● 3-5 years of experience in exhibition production (or film production at a comparable scale) in a museum or cultural institution

● A post-graduate degree in arts management/museum studies is desirable but not a qualifying condition

Work Hours Wednesday to Sunday; we are a small team of an institution in the establishment phase and therefore looking for people who are able to work flexibly. Late-nights, holiday and weekend work may be required.
