Programme Associate

A Programme Associate is responsible for the development and execution of the exhibitions and public programmes of Science Gallery Bengaluru (SGB). The SGB programmes include exhibition-seasons based on a theme and accompanied by a series of public events, learning programmes and publications; pop-up exhibitions of shorter durations; and a host of other public engagement programmes ranging from Food and Film Festivals to workshops, masterclasses, and lab visits.


Key Responsibilities


1. Programme Planning

● Research, conceptualise, and execute all exhibition-season as well as off-season events.

● Research and gather information about institutions and experts that can be potential programme partners.

● Support outreach to external partners, institutions, and speakers for programme collaborations.

● Support audience engagement and outreach efforts to grow programme participation.

● Coordinate with internal teams to align programme timelines and deliverables.

● Identify potential risks and flag issues to ensure smooth programme delivery.

● Assist in compiling programme information for grant applications and reports.

● Support the editorial team in the creation of publications and documentation related to the programmes like catalogues, reports, readers, and archives.


2. Programme Execution and Event Coordination

● Work with the operations team to create budgets and timelines for each programme and create an execution plan.

● Work the operations team to coordinate travel and hospitality for facilitators.

● Conduct end-to-end communication and coordination with event facilitators.

● Ensure timely updates of SGB’s exhibition website and work with our Content Management System (CMS).

● Ensure smooth running of all programmes—from coordinating with the facilitator and making agreements to taking care of event set-up and logistics.

● Support representation of SGB programmes across internal and external platforms.

● Support programme communications including drafting content, coordinating with the Communications and Design team.

● Monitor programme budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial efficiency across all events.

● Provide inputs to the Communications and Design teams in creating the appropriate messaging and visual language for each programme.

● Support the Exhibitions team with the creation of exhibits by coordinating with relevant artists and researchers.


3. Impact Evaluation and Documentation

● Gather feedback and create reports for assessing the impact of SGB programmes and initiatives.

● Create documentation and collate data and metrics for annual reviews, internal reports, and other reports whenever required.

● Build and maintain internal knowledge systems to document learnings, formats, and best practices for future programming.


Person Specifications

● 2–3 years of experience in programme coordination, event management, public engagement, or a related role across arts, culture, education, research, or media

● Demonstrated experience in end-to-end event execution, including planning, logistics, coordination, and delivery

● Experience working with multiple stakeholders including internal teams, external partners, facilitators, and vendors

● Familiarity with content and communications workflows, including writing briefs, coordinating with communications and design teams, and basic copywriting

● Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects across themes and timelines

● Well-developed academic and creative writing skills

● Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills

● Rigorous attention to detail

● Ability to work creatively and efficiently while maintaining quality in a fast-paced environment

● Actively engaged in current science, technology, and arts and culture contexts

● Ability to read and write Kannada is desirable

● A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any discipline is required; formal qualifications are secondary to skills and experience.

Location Science Gallery Bengaluru, Bellary Road (next to IVRI)

Work Hours Wednesday to Sunday; we are a small team of an institution in the establishment phase and therefore looking for people who are able to work flexibly. Late-nights, holiday and weekend work may be required.
