Exhibition Associate
The Exhibition Associate supports the development and delivery of exhibitions across formats—gallery-based, travelling, and programme-led. This role works at the intersection of Programmes and Production, translating programme ideas into spatial experiences, and ensuring exhibitions are delivered with clarity, quality, and coherence across contexts
Key Responsibilities
1. Exhibition Development and Coordination
Liaise with partner institutions to develop, adapt, and contextualise internal and travelling exhibitions
Coordinate requirements for exhibit display, technical integration, and on-site execution
Support the research, shortlisting, and longlisting of exhibits, artists, and projects
Coordinate inputs from curatorial and advisory teams
2. Cross-Team Coordination and Delivery
Work closely with internal teams (Programmes, Production, Design, Operations) to align content, design, and execution
Liaise with external advisors, curators, artists, researchers, and partner institutions
Manage communication, follow-ups, and workflows to ensure timelines and deliverables are met
3. Bridging Programmes and Production
Translate exhibition research and curatorial intent into inputs for exhibition design and scenography
Work with the Production team to ensure feasibility, quality, and execution standards
Support the activation of exhibits through public programmes, workshops, and engagements
4. Travelling Exhibitions (Inbound and Outbound)
Outbound:
Develop proposals, concept notes, and partner pitches for travelling exhibitions
Build and manage budgets, aligning scope with logistical and financial feasibility
Identify and liaise with partner institutions, festivals, and venues.
Inbound:
Liaise with partner organisations to onboard and deliver incoming exhibitions
Coordinate spatial, design, and technical requirements with internal teams
Adapt exhibitions to site-specific contexts and audiences
5. Programme-led Exhibition Formats
Work with the Production team to develop pop-ups, showcases, and modular exhibition formats
Translate programme content (talks, workshops, research) into spatial or exhibit-based formats
Support prototyping and iteration of lightweight, mobile, and rapid-deployment exhibition formats
6. Planning, Budgeting and Systems
Build and maintain exhibition trackers across development, production, and touring phases
Support budgeting, vendor coordination, and production workflows
Develop and maintain internal systems, templates, and documentation for exhibitions and travelling formats
Person Specification
Essential
2–4 years of experience in exhibitions, programmes, production, or related fields (arts, culture, museums, festivals, or public programming)
Demonstrated experience working on exhibitions, events, or multi-stakeholder projects
Strong project management and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple timelines simultaneously
Ability to translate curatorial or research-driven ideas into spatial and production-ready formats
Basic understanding of exhibition design and spatial thinking, with the ability to work effectively with design teams
Experience coordinating across teams (Programmes, Production, Design, Operations) and external stakeholders
Working knowledge of budgeting, vendor coordination, and production processes
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with strong attention to detail
High level of organisation, with the ability to track complex workflows and follow through on deadlines
Ability to work in fast-paced, evolving environments with a proactive, problem-solving approach
Desirable
Experience working on travelling exhibitions or touring formats
Experience developing proposals, pitch documents, or exhibition concepts
Familiarity with exhibition design tools, scenography, or spatial practices (e.g., layout planning, basic drawing, or visualisation)
Experience working with artists, researchers, or interdisciplinary teams
Exposure to programme-led formats such as workshops, talks, or public engagement initiatives
Experience in developing pop-ups, showcases, or modular/temporary exhibition formats
Interest in art–science practices or interdisciplinary cultural work
Familiarity with Kannada is a bonus
Familiarity with project management tools, CMS platforms, or internal tracking systems

Location Science Gallery Bengaluru, Bellary Road (next to IVRI)
Work Hours Wednesday to Sunday; we are a small team of an institution in the establishment phase and therefore looking for people who are able to work flexibly. Late-nights, holiday and weekend work may be required.
