Learning Associate (Design)

The Learning Associate (Design) leads the design, development, and delivery of learning experiences across Science Gallery Bengaluru’s exhibitions, public programmes, and youth initiatives. The role focuses on creating learning resources, facilitating educator and young adult engagement, and mentoring young adults to create resources and programmes. 

The role is responsible for strengthening learning practices across the institution by developing resources that are aligned to learning and curriculum needs, supporting participant-led learning, and translating exhibition themes and research into accessible learning experiences for diverse audiences.


Key Responsibilities

1. Learning Resources Design and Development

  • Anchor and mentor Experimentors in the creation of learning resources and collateral (Activity Handbooks, Exhibition-in-a-Box and facilitator guides, exhibition material ) that support exhibitions, public programmes, and outreach initiatives. 

  • Ensure resources are accessible and engaging, aligned with institutional learning goals and in line with relevant national/state curriculum. 

  • Work on updating existing Learning resources and collateral. 

  • Coordinate the production and inventory of physical resources. 

  • Maintain documentation of all activities and files. 

2. Educator Engagement and Training

  • Design and facilitate workshops and training programmes for educators, young adults, and programme participants at the Gallery and in offsite locations. 

  • Collect feedback, maintain documentation and engage with the educator workshop participants through online channels. 

  • Distribute Learning Resources to educators and institutions to widen the impact of our exhibitions and programmes. 

3. Mentorship and Learning Programme Support

  • Mentor Experimentors and Mediators in the design and delivery of Student Learning Modules and public-facing learning experiences.

  • Observe Student Learning Modules and provide feedback to the Experimentors and Mediators. 

  • Run training sessions on facilitation, activity design and development, and feedback processes. 

  • Run training sessions on creating learning resources. 

  • Mentor young adults to develop public programmes. 

4. Documentation, Evaluation and Knowledge Building

  • Document learning practices, methodologies, and programme outcomes.

  • Track participant engagement and learning outcomes.

  • Build internal toolkits, learning frameworks. 

  • Maintain an archive of resources.


Person Specification

Essential

  • Candidate must be extremely organised and respect deadlines

  • A relevant bachelor's degree in Design, Humanities, Natural or Social Sciences, or Education (B.Ed) 

  • Ability to work with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and other softwares and tools is a must

  • Experience working with Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects is a plus

  • Interest in current science, technology and the arts/culture environments

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

  • Excellent written and communication skills

  • Ability to translate complex ideas into accessible learning experiences

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively across teams

Desirable

  • Experience working in museums, galleries, cultural institutions, or informal learning environments

  • Familiarity with exhibition-based learning and public engagement

  • Experience working across arts, culture, science, or interdisciplinary contexts

  • Experience working with educators and/or students

  • Ability to speak in Kannada


Job Title Learning Associate (Design)

Nature of Employment Full-time, Probation - 6 months

Reporting to Learning Manager

Location Science Gallery Bengaluru, Bellary Road (next to IVRI)

Work Hours Wednesday to Sunday; we are a small team of an institution in the establishment phase and therefore looking for people who are able to work flexibly. Late-nights, holiday and weekend work may be required.
