Junior Development Associate

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Junior Development Associate to support its fundraising and donor engagement initiatives. Reporting to the Head of Development, the Junior Associate will play a vital role in advancing fundraising activities and in strategically shaping the case for support.

This position provides hands-on experience in nonprofit development, donor stewardship, and fundraising strategy, while contributing to SGB’s mission of engaging young adults at the intersection of science, art, and technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the SGB donor database, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

  • Research, identify, and cultivate new funding prospects from corporate partners, domestic and international foundations/trusts, and high net-worth individuals.

  • Manage SGB’s retail fundraising campaigns

  • Engage with SGB’s exhibitions and education programs to strategically shape the case for support and act as a confident spokesperson for SGB.

  • Prepare strong fundraising proposals.

  • Work with SGB staff to create tailored fundraising pitches for diverse donor prospects.

  • Manage due diligence and reporting for grants received, ensure timely compliance and maintain the database.

  • Compile supporting documents and create a submission-ready package for review

  • Track progress of specific fundraising campaigns and provide updates to the Head of Development.

  • Track grant utilisation alongside SGB’s finance and operations teams

  • Monitor registrations, exemptions, and compliance relevant to external funding.

  • Support the creation of donor communication materials, including reports, presentations, and event collateral.

  • Contribute to social media and outreach content related to fundraising initiatives.

  • Undertake any other activities necessary to advance fundraising for Science Gallery Bengaluru.


Person Specification

Essential

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Interest in fundraising, donor relations, and nonprofit development.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite; familiarity with donor management software is a plus.

  • Detail-oriented, organised, and able to manage multiple tasks.

  • Enthusiasm for the mission and willingness to learn.

Desirable

  • 2-3 years of experience in fundraising even on a small scale.

Work Hours Wednesday to Sunday; we are a small team of an institution in the establishment phase and therefore looking for people who are able to work flexibly. Late-nights, holiday and weekend work may be required.
