Sci560 Mediators

Mediators are an integral part of each exhibition-season at Science Gallery Bengaluru (SGB). By providing each visitor the unique opportunity to deeply engage with our exhibits, events, and programmes, the mediators are at the backbone of our commitment to public engagement at SGB.

Having undergone intensive training from a range of artists and scholars each exhibition-season, the mediators are positioned to help each visitor establish a personal relationship with the different themes of the exhibition. This year, for our exhibition-season Sci560, we have a diverse group of mediators who are part of SGB full-time, as well as part-time. Come say hi!

Aditi Rajesh Narayanan

Aditi is a passionate baker and owner of a home bakery. With a background in commerce, she initially pursued a career that didn’t quite resonate with her vibrant personality. Realizing that the whole desk job scene wasn’t for her, she transitioned into baking. When she’s not busy crafting delicious confections, she can often be found exploring nature through walks, treks, and scenic drives. Her love for food extends beyond the kitchen, as these drives and rides are often just a pretext to discover and savor amazing culinary experiences. She also enjoys engaging with people and has embraced her role as a mediator with SGB, where she channels her enthusiasm for communication to help people connect and understand each other better.

Akshad Somnathe

Akshad holds a Bachelor's degree in Humanities from Azim Premji University in Bengaluru. He is a political enthusiast aspiring to contribute intellectually and actively to the Indian mass movements.

An amateur poet who enjoys long walks and deep conversations, Akshad is a cat lover who occasionally sings. He once learned guitar in an attempt to impress someone he loved, but the effort ended in humorous failure. Education is a subject close to his heart, and he likes reading books on various topics.

Akshad is currently transitioning towards a vegan lifestyle in response to awareness of climate catastrophe. Uncertain about his future career path, he is learning to embrace the idea of saying ""I don't know,"" navigating the uncertainty with an open mind.

Fathima Aslaha T R

Fathima Aslaha T R, aka Aslaha, graduated with a BS-MS dual degree in Science, specialising in biological sciences from IISER Tirupati. Her interest in the origin and spread of diseases led her to taste the fields of paleopathology and disease ecology. Throughout this journey, she pondered the accessibility of science to society. In the coming months, she wants to understand and take action on this. Times other than when she seems confused and lost, you can find her grooving to music with dance moves, doing embroidery, telling stories, or even embarking on adventures. She has a soft corner for diaries and journaling everything and anything in them. Gotta camera? She love dressing up and posing for the camera!

Gaayatri Chandrasekharan

Gaayatri has a masters in physics and puts this to good use trying to answer questions she gets when she looks around. She grew up in nature, and feels this has given her a sense of awe for the beauty of the universe which she appreciates through both art and science. She wants to write, draw and stitch more and hopes her creative pursuits reflect a tiny fraction of this beauty. She also loves the sense of possibility and community a city gives and is excited to explore more of Bengaluru. In her free time she goes for walks, watches movies, listens to music and writes while trying to escape the pull of instagram reels.

Gokul Prabhu

Gokul, who goes by Gokal is a post-graduate from IISER Thiruvananthapuram, where he was a total maverick, doing his own thing. His entrepreneurial dreams were slightly fulfilled by building a small group of science communicators at ‘Into Their Minds’. Before Science Gallery Bengaluru, he applied for the position of barista at Starbucks and was brutally rejected. Despite that, he's your go-to guy for a great cup of coffee. At the moment, he is probably walking in a random park in Bengaluru, striking up a "life, the universe, and everything" conversation with a random dude he just met.

Jagrut Amuri

From a young age, Jagrut has been captivated by the realms of science, ecology, and communication. Inspired by BBC and NatGeo documentaries, he has always dreamt of exploring jungles and oceans while celebrating the diverse life forms that share our planet.

Jagrut's journey is fuelled by uncovering the unique adaptations of Earth's creatures that reveal stories of mystery, devotion, tragedy, resilience, and triumph. He believes that sharing these journeys can deepen our connection to each other and raise awareness of our place in the vast web of life.

Also, swimming, yoga, flow arts, origami, plants and hiking.

Kavana Kiran

Kavana holds a degree in Mathematics (and a sort-of-minor in Climate Studies) that she worked very hard for, but more importantly, she is a bread and cheese enthusiast. Among other things, her skills include: the Spanish classical guitar, the bass, being chased by animals, and owning many ties. She likes maths. And music. And the two of them together, wherever they intersect (in quite extraordinary ways, as her honours thesis will tell you). She also shares some striking similarities with Dora the Explorer-- the hair, and a backpack that holds everything. Even toolkits with which she used to fix campus windows.

Pravallika Patnam

Pravallika has a bachelor's in Industrial Design and freelances in product design. A super curious, hyper-active being with a zeal for the unknown. She likes a slow day, cycling around, any outdoor activity, dancing, talking, and talking some more. She is a bit of a hoarder who loves tinkering with the things she collects. One day she hopes to live in a house near a beach surrounded by locals, maybe a pet reptile, and running a company that sells restored furniture, thrifted trinkets, and quirky textiles/objects with hidden stories. She's on the hunt to find new experiences through projects that allow her to interact with people or communities, explore mediums of communication and break down complex systems, whether at the gallery, in a startup, research or a local setting. Although her size may be small, she has the might and will of a hundred people. If she sets her mind to it, she can create her own little ecosystem all by herself!

Sandhra Sajeevan

Sandhra graduated with an integrated BS-MS degree in Materials Science. She has since been on a side quest to find spaces where her myriad interests overlap with work that could have a social impact. Whenever she has the time, she explores nature for shiny insects (even if it’s in her backyard). She loves to curl up on a rainy day, sippin tea, with a book in hand. She likes art, dogs, cooking, and being cringe on the internet. In her free time Sandhra likes to explore the realms on YouTube where people dissect life, movies and feminism. She is also weirdly into freaky deep-sea creatures (don’t look up the goblin shark).

Vignesh K

Vignesh is currently learning the craft of storytelling as a Mediator. He’s had a vexing but interesting relationship with the city despite being a local, having never learnt the local language, instead having to pick it up by word. With his desire for completion and extraordinary persistence, he’s hoping to flesh it all out this season and finally have answers to what it means when someone says they love a city. He’s also interested in Reporting and is currently pursuing an MA in English. Steeping himself in books, poetry, and film is part of the journey, come talk to him about it anytime!

Vishwas Solagi

Vishwas, after getting a postgraduate degree in Physics, took a detour and worked in the localisation industry for 3 years (because why not, right?). He has primarily worked in translating academic and creative content, and localising software products. He also calls himself a part-time voiceover artist and a full-time cinephile. He watches films and reads books in his free time and writes about them whenever he feels like. Oh, he is also an aspiring writer and a science communicator. It's his never-ending quest to find the sweet spot where science, language, and storytelling collide that has led him to Science Gallery Bengaluru.
