Media and Communications Associate

Job Summary

The Media and Communication Associate lead the organization’s digital and social media presence, driving visibility and engagement across platforms. The role focuses on developing platform-specific content and shaping compelling digital narratives. This includes overseeing content creation, social media strategy, digital campaigns, and performance tracking.


Key Responsibilities


1. Social media

- Create and maintain social media content calendar across platforms

- Ensure brand voice consistency across all digital touchpoints

- Write engaging, brand-aligned copy and coordinate on appropriate visuals with the design team

- Create and script engaging short form video content to increase audience engagement.

- Lead digital campaigns from ideation to reporting

- Engage with the SGB community


2. Media Relations

- Maintain and update a database of media organizations and journalists (print, web, visual).

- Build professional relationships with journalists and media outlets.

- Monitor media coverage of relevant issues and share insights internally.

- Draft press statements and features for regional publications.


3. Analytics

- Analyse audience insights to inform content strategy

- Present actionable recommendations to leadership

- Monitor competitor and sector communication trends


4. Communications Strategy

- Support the development of integrated communications strategies

- Ensure alignment between digital, media, and on-ground programming

- Safeguard brand positioning and messaging consistency


5. Key Skills and Competencies

- Strong writing and editing skills across formats (press releases, newsletters, social media)

- Ability to develop and manage communication materials

- Proficiency in digital tools for website and social media management

- Strong media and stakeholder relationship-building skills

- Excellent organizational and project management abilities

- Good to have: Basic video editing and reel creation skills

Job Title Media and Communication Associate

Nature of Employment Full-time, Probation - 6 months

Reporting to Media and Communication Manager

Location Science Gallery Bengaluru, Bellary Road (next to IVRI)

Work Hours Wednesday to Sunday; we are a small team of an institution in the establishment phase and therefore looking for people who are able to work flexibly. Late-nights, holiday and weekend work may be required.
