In the Making of Self

The 10-foot sculpture by Arunkumar H G towered over us as a testament to our fraught relationship with carbon. The wood in this always unfinished monument was sourced from an industrial scrapyard — alluding to our dangerous play with carbon, be it deforestation, energy use, or reckless wastage.

In the Making of Self cobbled together an incomplete human out of wood discarded because of indiscriminate consumption. The sculpture invited us to consider how carbon inhibits us, satiates us, and injures us on this planet.
