Citizen Disaster Reporting Platform

As the intensity and frequency of floods, droughts, and heatwaves increase due to climate change, how do we create robust information and data collection systems? From broadcasting alerts to sharing individual safety statuses, social media has enabled people to track disasters. Building on this, CivicDataLab developed a platform in partnership with government stakeholders, for citizens in Indonesia to report disasters in real-time through social media platforms. This interactive exhibit tracked the disasters reported in the country, making citizens active agents in the disaster response process. What would such a reporting system look like in India?
