In this talk, Seshadri KS presented an overview of what amphibians are and attempted to excite people to pay attention to amphibians around them. He delved into topics from his research spanning the last 15 years on various aspects about the ecology, evolutionary biology, and conservation of amphibians in India.


About the Scientist

Seshadri KS, is DST-INSPIRE Faculty at Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE). He has studied several ecosystems and taxa from dragonflies to epiphytes in the tall forest canopies of the Western Ghats. During his PhD at the National University of Singapore, he discovered new species and new reproductive behaviour of frogs and examined the evolutionary ecology of such behaviour.

He was the research director at Agumbe Rainforest Research Station and later, a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. He is a recipient of the 'Future Conservationist' Award, Prof. Navjot Sodhi Conservation Scholarship, and has been recognized by Deccan Herald as a Changemaker. He is committed to the cause of conservation and strongly believes that there is an urgent need to rekindle a sense of wonder towards nature among people so that they care about our planet. In his spare time, he is out watching birds, reading, or tending a modest terrace garden.
