Head of Exhibition and Programmes
Job Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Head of Exhibition and Programmes is a strategic and creative leader responsible for conceiving, planning, and supervising impactful exhibitions, public programmes, and learning initiatives. This role plays a critical part in shaping Science Gallery Bengaluru’s interdisciplinary approach, driving engagement with young adults and broader communities through innovative and inclusive science-art experiences.
Key Responsibilities.
1/ Exhibitions
● Lead strategic planning for interdisciplinary exhibition-seasons, which include art- science exhibits, public programmes, and mentorship initiatives for young adults.
● Manage full lifecycle of exhibitions:conceptualising , budgeting, production, installation, and post-exhibition evaluation
● Foster collaborations with artists, scientists, research institutions, and cultural hubs, both in India and across the world.
● Ensure excellence in execution, prioritizing intellectual rigor, accessibility, and best practices for public engagement and operational compliances
● Evaluate audience impact, integrating feedback into future exhibition design
2/ Public Programmes
● Design and supervise events—lectures, performances, workshops, festivals—that stimulate public engagement and research
● Engage communities actively, inviting collaboration and co-creation with youth, educators, researchers, and cultural practitioners
● Foster partnerships across research institutions, academia, and public sector organizations
● Promote inclusion and diversity in programming content and delivery
3/ Learning & Education
● Develop and supervise learning strategy for SGB’s mentorship initiatives and learning programmes
● Oversee the development of SGB’s Learning Resources: Activity Handbooks, Open Courseware, Exhibition-in-a-Box.
● Establish and maintain relationships with government bodies, educational institutions, and other partners who support the dissemination of SGB’s Learning Resources.
● Scale impact through collaborations with educational institutions and government bodies
● Monitor learning outcomes, using data-driven assessment for reporting and refinement
4/ Support Fundraising Efforts:
● Collaborate with leadership and external partners to develop and execute fundraising strategies, including donor outreach, grant writing, and cultivating strategic partnerships that advance Science Gallery Bengaluru’s mission.
● Lead Impact Measurement & Reporting: Design and implement systems to track programmatic impact and generate detailed reports using qualitative and quantitative metrics, ensuring transparency, accountability, and alignment with organizational goals.
● Oversee Exhibition Delivery: Manage cross-functional teams to ensure timely and effective delivery of exhibitions and public programs, including production timelines, resource allocation, and stakeholder coordination.
● Team Leadership & Coordination: Lead a diverse and multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of inclusion, creativity, and operational excellence while ensuring alignment with SGB’s strategic priorities.
Qualifications & Experience
● Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field such as science communication, museum studies, arts management, or education
● Minimum 8–10 years of experience in a leadership role within exhibitions, public engagement, or cultural programming
● Proven track record of curating and producing complex projects with interdisciplinary teams
● Experience in developing learning strategies and resources for diverse audiences
● Familiarity with working in a non-profit or cultural institution environment is preferred

Location Science Gallery Bengaluru, Bellary Road (next to IVRI)
Work Hours Wednesday to Sunday; we are a small team of an institution in the establishment phase and therefore looking for people who are able to work flexibly. Late-nights, holiday and weekend work may be required.
